TEAM OFFICIALS & GAME DAY ROLES

For each team to run, a number of officials are required. These include Coach, Team Manager, Runner and Trainer. These roles need to be registered with the league, with both Coach & Trainer completing appropriate training. Without these the team cannot participate in the competition.

Coach - The Coach is responsible for running the weekly training sessions and coaching the players on game day. Coaches must be accredited at the appropriate level for the age group they are coaching. Accredited coaching courses are run pre-season which the club will meet the cost of. Coaches must have a current working with children Check to be kept on file.

Team Manager - The Team Manager is responsible for ensuring that all game day roles are filled on game day, paperwork is completed properly and that all club communication reaches their players and families. Team managers’ will be trained by the club in the duties they need to perform and will have full support available to them. The team manager will require a working with Children check to be kept on file.

Trainer - All teams require a Trainer on game day and at training sessions. Trainers must complete an accredited trainer’s course and also have an up to date Level 2 First Aid & CPR qualifications. Trainer’s courses are run pre season and First Aid courses can be arranged as needed. All costs resulting in the training and qualifications of our trainers are covered by the club. It is an expectation that once qualified you will act as a Trainer for a minimum of two years. The Trainer will require a working with children check to be kept on file.

Runner - (If not already selected by Coach). The sole duty of the runner shall be to confer with the player/players of his/her club on behalf of the coach and immediately leave the playing arena during game time. Runners are not to be seen staying on the ground after they have sent the message out to the player/players. Runners must wear dark pants. Liaise with Team Manager on game day, complete any necessary paperwork. The Runner will require a working with children check to be kept on file.

Game Day Team Duties:

In addition to the team officials there are a number of other jobs that must be performed on game day at HOME GAMES. The team who plays the first match on the ground for the day will need to put up the goal pads, put out the scoreboard numbers, & the stretcher and setup the siren. The team playing the final game on the ground will pack up and return all of these items to the storeroom and also do a thorough clean up of change rooms

EACH TEAM MUST ALSO PROVIDE THE FOLLOWING:

Boundary Umpire - Not required for U9’s & U10’s. Boundary umpires shall follow play and call out any ‘out of bounds’ ball. Boundary umpires are to be at least the same age as the team playing or older. Boundary umpires must not coach the players whilst running the boundary. The Boundary Umpire also returns the ball to the field umpire after a goal is scored. Liaise with Team Manager, on this day who will provide you with any necessary uniform/equipment.

Goal Umpire - The goal umpire shall record points and goals. Scores must be compared with the Time Keeper and Ground Umpire at the half time break and the conclusion of the Game. The Goal Umpires scores will determine the winner. Liaise with Team Manager, on this day, to complete paperwork and who will provide you with any necessary paperwork/uniform/equipment. In U9’s & 10’s the score is signaled but score is not recorded.

The Team Manager keeps a record of the U10’s score to send into the league with the team paperwork.

Water Person - The water person is allowed to run water out to the players and then go directly back to the fence. He/She is not allowed to stay on the field. Liaise with Team Manager on this day who will provide you with any necessary paperwork / Uniform / equipment.

Interchange Steward - Shall be seated on the boundary line within the white lines of the interchange area. Must have a watch. Steward shall note on the Interchange Card (provided) the time of the start and finish of each quarter, all interchanging player numbers and times and any players ordered off by the field umpire. The Interchange liaise with Team Manager on this day, to complete paperwork and who will provide you with any necessary paperwork.

Scoreboard Attendant - Post score onto score board and check that the scores are correct with the Goal. Umpires at each quarter break. When there is a 70 point difference between scores, scoring is to cease. Liaise with Team Manager, on this day, to complete paperwork and who will provide you with any necessary paperwork/equipment.

Time Keeper - The time keeper shall keep time and record scores for each quarter and sound the siren for the commencement and conclusion of each quarter. Scores must be compared with the Goal Umpire at the half time break and the conclusion of the game. The Goal Umpires scores will determine the winner. Liaise with Team Manager, on this day, to complete paperwork and who will provide you with any necessary paperwork.

Canteen - It is an expectation of all parents that are not rostered on to any game day duties that they offer their assistance in the canteen, for a minimum of half an hour. Mums, Dads, Cares, Grandparents or other volunteers are all welcome. First game team needs to help out and set up half an hour prior to starting game time, and last team for day help pack up. A minimum of two volunteers are needed at all times. The Team Manager usually organises a roster, but it is easy for parents to offer their assistance, rather than the Team Manager having to chase helpers all the time as they are already busy organising other roles so that the children team can take the field. The Canteen is our biggest revenue raiser, providing much needed funds to purchase new equipment, jumpers, coaches and trainers kits and training.

* Teams will not be able to take the field if game day roles are not filled appropriately.

* Parent / Carer Involvement is needed for your child’s team and our club to be successful.

* The kids really enjoy it when you are involved, we all need to do our bit.

Each week there are many smaller jobs that need to be done such as cutting up oranges for the quarter breaks, assisting in setting up and packing up of the oval at home games.
